Default Putting the power down

putting together my project my number one concern was (and still is) money. I need better traction. So, I want to get rid of my open diff, but the cost of a genuine LSD is too much for me. Has anyone had any experience with the Phantom Grip spider gear?

There was a nice write-up by Jeff about them. Do a search....

I've come to the conclusion that for street driving and no trac use, phantom grip or twin trac is ok. for racing, it's bad. someone (I think it was Beau) gave a description of how it actually works; made it sound like it put all sorts of extra stress on the spider gear and other related transmission internals. Use one at your own risk I guess. Well, thanks guys.

I'm glad we came to a consensus... hah =) I've used it and seen it, and it DOESN'T work all that well... i.e. burning out slicks looks like its still open diff...

I'd go twin trac before phantom grip. Twin trac is what Jeff ran. I havent seen a broken twintrac. But I've seen many broken phantom grips. So I'd give the twin trac a whirl. And I will be using one down the line in my next tranny.
