If its a game. Most games have an option to take recordings of the game.

like what!? i've never played a game that could do it, besides Ultima Online, but it's not even IN the game its in a 3rd party aid utility program. and it basically does a screenshot every .5 seconds lol

most first person shooters let you. unreal, counter strike, and some others.

In Quake the traditional method is to take a game recording which can be rendered into video afterwards.

ya they're called "demo's" and you usually have to set it up as a command line arguement.
