Make sure you have extra piston-to-wall and ring-end gap clearance. If you roadrace or auto-x a car where those parts get hot and stay hot and expand... they need to have extra space to expand into. Otherwise the piston gets hot and starts sticking in the bore = engine death.

Vitaras are slightly undersized, yes.
I'd go 0.0035"-0.004" piston to wall clearance, at 200-225 whp it should do a good job staying cool. You can do it with stock pistons, but Vitaras + small turbo that spools quick is a very safe route to go.
