#1 rule when riding:

Ride like everyone is a complete idiot and they have no clue you're on the road. It'll save your life.

I have a couple friends that recently started riding, all of a sudden they think they are the biggest badasses evar! lol

I know its in a way a diff crowd, but my parents are totally into Harleys. I've met a LOT of 'so-called' bikers through them (from Joe Shmoe to the former VP for South American Harley Sales), and a lot of crotchrocket bikers/racers too. BOTH crowds tend to be very nice people, but ALWAYS elitists in their own ways. The two quotes above sum it all up. Being nice is great, but being arrogant completely negates any saintly act you may have done in the past. Arrogance is why I don't like bikers.

As for the loud pipes comments, I've regularly had to swerve to avoid a rapidly approaching biker with loudass pipes that suddenly appeared from my blind spot. Despite having virtually straight pipes, I still can't hear them till they're basicly humping my door handles. Loud pipes make people look up, they don't give bikers the right to be less 'defensive' of a driver. I'll admit a lot of car/truck drivers should end their lives in a self-induced flaming car wreck, but I'm very observant when it comes to lane changes, and some bikers are just morons. They aren't immune to low IQ's just cause they own a bike. Also, there's a huge difference between 'avoiding cars that are trying to run you down' and 'fearlessly/arrogantly being an unsafe driver because loud pipes and two wheels make you a fate-defying badass ----------er'. In other words:

Complaining when you technically break your own rules is being an arrogant idiot. People hate taking the blame, bikers aren't any different. You can complain the roads aren't safe, or do all you can legally/politcally/socially to make them safer.

BTW that's the same subforum the expert welder Engloid got banned from - the biker mods are asshats and then some.

They wouldn't be from Minnesota would they?

In CA the government told you you had to wear a seatbelt in a car, and a helmet on a bike. In Minnesota, they tell you you have to wear a seatbelt, but bikes don't have to wear helmets. Ok, now how many crotchrocket morons have I seen riding with the helmet hanging on the side of the bike? It's sad, but I would pay for a poster of the coroner taking a body bag away from a wrecked motorcycle with the helmet still hanging on it. (dumb *****)

I know the law in Wisconsin is ppl under 18 need to wear a helmet, but I think 18+ are only required to wear glasses.

Is it less saft to be ejected from your car w/o helmet than it is to be ejected from your bike w/glasses on? Maybe its the Flexeon(R) glasses frames that resist bending... :1
