But on the same token which is more valueable...the person who contributes to the forum or the faceless advertiser who contributes nothing?

I know the bills have to get paid but this is the internet, a new forum is just around the corner. When a site worries more about advertising dollars than the quality of the forum, people are just going to move to somewhere else. And than how valueable are the paying sponsors when there is no traffic to the site?
i totally see your point and if someone posts useful info most times im sure that sort of thing gets overlooked on most forums, but when nooblets come in with that stuff they need to get regulated. On a site like this we might not get complaints from sponsors, but a more commercial site like HT would get flooded with sponsor-complaints if tons of people had sigs with links to their sites.

Oh yeah. There's a big thread about it in the Moderators Area. Not many of them are happy about it since it will do as we all fear...kill the site. The owners of the site see the opportunity to make a lot of money off of the Sponsors; however, by being as greedy as they are at the moment, they're going to drive away more people which will in turn make less money than previously. I just hope the site continues. I know i may be in the minority who actually like HT, but i see it as a great resource for those of us in the Honda community. Something obviously has to change and i hope it isn't done too late.

Don't get me wrong, the site does have a lot of good writeups. I just don't like some of the moderating staff. Ponyboy, for example, gave me SOOOOOOOO much ----, constantly rude, for no damn reason. I admit, I did later cause problems, but only after I was banned for BS reasons. First time I was banned because my avatar was too big, no big deal, put up a smaller one. Then I was banned because my avatar had one of those aqua teen hunger force boston-bomb images of er flipping the bird, who cares? I never talked trash or caused any problems on the forum. Ponyboy wouldn't give me a reason, he just kept talking ----, being rude, then saying I was being rude once I obviously got pissed Knighton unbanned me though, so it's all good.

There is good information there, but there are also a lot of idiot teenagers that don't know what they're talking about spouting stupid crap and jerking off to JDM/AEM/[insert overpriced useless ---- here].

Well there are good moderators and bad ones. I'd like to think i'm pretty fair with what i do. Also, i'm not sure Ponyboy is around anymore. If you do ever have problems (this goes for anyone who's on HT and not intentionally being a complete retard) you can always PM me. My screen name is the same on HT as it is here.

As for the idiot teenagers...if you find a solution, let me know. It seems that every time i go to the 92-00 Civic Forum, there is a "i want to turbo my shitbox" thread where all the idiots congregate and share their "wealth" of knowledge about how many psi you can run. Its just rather frustrating to have to deal with all the morons who ------ misinformation and never care to listen to reason or fact. Thank god for the Lock and Ban buttons

Haven't had any other problems, ponyboy was the only "problem" I had.

Nowhere is safe from idiot teenagers, there are just fewer of them here, and a majority of those that show up get ran off fairly quickly. There's good info there, one thing that comes to mind is the "how to put x brakes on y car" thread, or whatever it is, very good ----. But like you said, there's a lot of people that have no clue what they're talking about. One person makes up some BS but makes it sound plausible, 100 other idiots read and believe it and ------ it around. I come here for answers, and only visit there for writeups or selling crap. It's annoying to search and get 10 different answers.

Agree 100% Contributing members should get perks like sig advertising becuase they add to the quality of the forum. Noobs and people that just want to sell stuff...gtfo

plus it all depends how its done...if its just a link and a little blurb from someone who has been here since 02 then who cares. If its a banner the size of one at the top with bright yellow writing that flashes then i think its safe to say that might be a bit much.

I'd say just a simple text "ad" is more than fine. HT doesn't allow any more than that in their signature. Not like here where you can embed an image and all sorts of other ----.

For example of Steve had:

www.---------------------------
Mad High Quality Oil Lines for $1000.
Buy it Nigs.

That should be more than okay. I could care less if he contributed or not. All I care is after I bought the item, it worked, and he helped me if he needed. When you get sponsor rights on HT you get a ---- ton of privileges. Moderators kiss your ***. You get to post your prices and ---- in forums and generally get away with it. You also get the normal running of a banner and a post in a Sponsors Classified section. If you aren't a sponsor and just have a signature, well the only way I know your company exists is if I read one of your posts. That is quite limiting in comparison.

Eh, either way I take HT for what it is. Good archieves and occasionally a good read.

i'd be fine with doing away with sigs altogether and only allow them for paying sponsors.
