Gtechpro RR meter....is it any good...better than the old ?
hi,
I've read some things about the old Gtechpro meters here, saying that its just a piece of crap.
Im really thinking of buying the new version Gtechpro. To get logs etc i want the top model RR.
Does anyone have any experience with it ?
I don't have a dyno or a real track nearby, but i do have lots of strait flat roads (its the netherlands... )
So would it be any good ? read pretty nice things about it

I used to have the first Gtech pro, the little black unit.
For 1/4 mile runs, it was great, compared to the track, +/- 0.2 of a second. Times where pretty close, as long as you set the level correctly.
Brake runs 0-60 then 60-0, where good also.
The hp runs where way off. In my old civic it kept giving me 60hp. No way!!! it was probably around 100hp which is still weak :P.
I tried one hp run in the WRX completely stock, and it kept giving me 225hp. It is 227 stock, but this is supposed to give you wheel hp numbers.
Now this could be because I was guessing the weight of the car also.
I really liked the unit, but someone stole it.
The new one must be better, but there's nothing better than the real thing.
If you have nothing close, at all, then get one. The whenever you are able to get to a track or a dyno run both a few times, you will then have a base number to compare and fix what the gtech tells you.
Now this in no way will help you tune a car, it will only give you numbers.

no. i know it does not help tuning my car...but its nice to know where i am and what the improvements are.
Also, i can see if im getting close to about 200hp...i have to back off since im running a bone stock EDM D16Z5.
Also got a wideband so ill be just fine

as long as you know the weight of your car to within like 50 pounds you should be good for most the stuff. My car weighs 2096 lbs. and when i dyno'd it, i got 135. i used the first gtech and it told me i had 95. i know the weight was right cuz scales don't lie. but other than the hp rating, everything else was good. i don't know about $199.95 worth good..... it better give you a ******* after it dissapoints you.

i got the first get one off of ebay for $20 new... the hp seemed a kinda close to what it should be, and im not sure about the 1/4 times, but hell, for $20 it wasnt much of a loss.
