Wrong I talk to my physics teacher about this all the time. He says 85% of the time he comes into contact with someone in a criminal manor he ends up cutting them a deal and letting them go. Repeative offenders is where the line is crossed.

I can't even believe i read all this. Drugs, robbing...ect...what the hell is going on in your little town. Remind me to never go there. Sounds like all you little kids need to go to jail for a month. I hope the judge throws the book at them. Just my 2 cents.

youre physics teacher isnt a ------- judge so what relevance does that have? the cops have absolutley nothing to do with how much jail time someone gets for a crime, all thier job is, is to charge them with the crimes they commited and book them on it. a judge sentences them for thier crimes, theres minimum and maximum penlties for every crime. theres nothing to debate here thats how it works.

the cops can choose to drop charges and levels of charges upon arrest but thats it. if they are lucky they can plead down from a felony, because a felony is not something you want on youre record because it takes 7 or 10 years i forget which to be able to be eligible for a pardon.

Exactly, most of the time he drops the charges and has a mutual agreement. Again depends on any priors.

the cops charge you, the da procecutes. even if you get the da to make a deal, the judge has to ok it and sentence you.

and for the fifth time NOT IF YOUVE ALREADY BEEN BOOKED AND ENTERED INTO THE SYSTEM ON THOSE CHARGES

once thats happened theres nothing the police can change. only the DA and the judge can decide to drop or lower charges.

The cop can decide not to be a witness, and often times that's enough for the judge to throw the case out - insufficient evidence. But if he's got other tangible evidence, the prosecutor could convince the judge to continue anyway.
