Default blown rings????

ok guys ... 90 crx ..... all the sudden starts blowing a shitload of smoke out the back.......

compression reads ... 200-200-200-150 ..... went to put a little oil in to see fi it perked up, and ooops ... slipped and put too much in .. so its all fucked up now .. lol ... like 275 ....

anyway, there is a little oil leaking from the head ... im about to go grab a head gasket and yank the head off ....

what i want to know is do u think it could be a ring problem, and do rings usualy just "blow" out like that all the sudden

is there any test that i could do once the head is pulled to see if the rings are bad in the cylinder?

i doubt it for some reason .. walls usualy dont crack out of nowhere ... expesialy when your not beating on it ... he was just driving normal ....

does anyone know if i can use a y8 head gasket im sure i can right? usualy its more expensive, but we looked up the price for a head gasket out of a 96 ex at the dealer and it was $35 ...... $30 cheaper than the pos paper gasket in the rex... does this sound odd to anyone else?

yea 35$ sounds odd from the dealer, u sure its for the head gasket?
There is no easy way to check if your rings are in excellent shape, but u can run some fluid through when the head is off and see if it slips down... thats if u wanna take the oil pan etc off... might be a good learning experience for ya. Usually if u have a leak from the head, then thats ur white smoke problem, u probably got the messed up head gasket.. did you check ur oil and coolant yet? lastly when did the small leak out of the head start, that should be an indication as to whether the hg is the problem or not

yeah, that was the head gasket price ... i even checked on www.hondaautomitveparts.com and it was super cheap there too... am i looking at the wrong gasket

the block was freshly cleaned by hand and degreaser before we put the motor is ... it has only been in for about a week and running ..... on the side with 200psi there is quite alot of oil that has leaked out ...

the side with 150 about a quater sized wet spot on the block ....

i guess as far as doing the water test, i could just put a little water into the cylinder and see if it leaks down? i guess if oil is getting by the water would get by with no problem .... any y would i have to drop the oil pan for that>?

ok .. well i got the metal 3 layer head gasket for $30 ... cant beet that ... from the dealer too ...

i took off the head and whatnot .... odd thing.... coolant seemed clean ...... hmmmmmm ....

well i cleaned up the block on the head from the gasket and whatnot ...

now when i did the water in the combustion chamber test to see if the valve seats were sealing properly the #4 chamber(the one that read out at 150psi) leaked .... but only started leaking a little after some time ... like 30 mins ... there were no visual air bubles coming out so it couldnt be very major im hoping that the seat has some extra gunk on it do to the oil burning in the cylinder .... is that leakage enough to cause a problem and even if, where the hell is this oil im burning coming from ?
