Default First post, thinking on a d15b2 dpmi turbo setup... fuel delivery??

Hello all,

This is my first time on this forum, and my first post.

Anyway I have a 91 civic dx with the 1.5 dpmi engine, car isn't worth much(411'000km) but the motor's still strong(have done head gasket, timing belt, ect ect ect). I have the turbo bug bad lately, maybe because I have been installing kits in other peoples toys at work(snowmobiles).

I don't have any certification but I do work as a tech at a yamaha dealership, though I am lacking in electrical skills. But I do excel in nearly all other area's(most days).

What I do plan on doing is buying an ebay cast iron/steel manifold. I have a turbo (t4 I think?)from a 2.2l dodge car engine with internal waste gate. I can build/scrounge nearly everything else(I think).

I wan't to get to about +/-150hp, probably 5 psi(should be close with the said turbo)?

The only thing I can't decide on is fuel delivery.... I think I want to go with an Additional injector controller setup? Though an FMU would be more straightforward, but not very tunable.

I do have a wideband AF ratio gage that I use to tune bikes, quads, and a few carbed vehicles.

one problem I do have though is that I live in a rural area, and availability of used parts locally is almost non existent.

So my initial budget is around $500(anything more and I should start with a better vehicle). Do you think this noob can pull this off

later all
John.

I had a simular project a D15b2 in a 92 sedan.
I used 1 jnjector from me old Prelude plug it in the main injector (green) it was triggerd by a pressure switch (at 2psi). to trick the map sensor I;ve put a 1 way walw on it. On totaly stock engine with a t3 charger I was boosting 7-8 psi that was about 160-170 bhp.

That's cool that it worked. Anyway I got a hold of an HKS extra injector controller. Manifold, turbo and blow off vavle should be here in the next week or 2... post is slow to canada. I am thinking of picking up a set of arp head bolts, or are they necessary?

I don't think so it will be a waste of money. I was runing a T3 /hks blow off / 2" pipework/ 2" straight thru exhaust/ VW t5 2,5tdi intercooler front mount. Tolat stock engine. It was going like f..k.

I was thinking a gas check valve on the map sensor but wouldn't it always be reading vacuum and never get a chance to read a pressure increase as it normally would when you punch the throttle? That and the PCV system, not to sure what is going to happen with that.

Doh I think I understand now, the check valve would be to let pressure out..... but wouldn't you loose some boost that way?

Haha just a little update here, getting a little somewhere on my turbo project, its quite ghetto, but it's making 6 or 7 psi volvo 740turbo (MHI td04 13c) Got to build a down pipe and hook up my wideband for tuning before making any more runs.

Note, I had to remove the secondary butterfly for it to make any boost at the manifold... I kind of was expecting that though being it opens with vacume.
