Re:WTB: Build D Block, 350+ hp Intercooler
i spent 2000 bux on my a6 block. the only thing i dont have is aftermarket rods. everything is built i bought the stock long block for 100 bux and went from there, i suggest finding something to that affect and then buy the parts and biuld it yourself or have a machine shop do it. then you can have it the way you want it

Re:WTB: Build D Block, 350+ hp Intercooler
yep...i had bought scat rods for it and the machine shop said they hit the cylinder walls and main girdle. i expected the walls but not the girddle. he said if i bought the rods he wanted to use this wouldnt of happened. he bought eagle rods with are identicle to the scat ones and they did the same thing. so i told him to just put the stock rods in and ill will find rods that dont require notching. so im in the proccess of finding rods that dont require notching any suggestions?
|
Re:WTB: Build D Block, 350+ hp Intercooler
well notching isnt that hard, but crower rods (the expensive ones) dont hit. im selling some, but WOT has dibs on them
|
Re:WTB: Build D Block, 350+ hp Intercooler
which crower rods? name part number? i dont have money now but this is my project for the winter. i just need my car running cause i commute to school, thats the whole reson behind putting the stock rods in
|
Re:WTB: Build D Block, 350+ hp Intercooler
well if youre using stock rods...what pistons did you get to work with them, ones for pressed in pins? anyway, there are only two kind of crower rods that i know of, the billet and econo billet. These are the billet ones for floating pins
|
Re:WTB: Build D Block, 350+ hp Intercooler
i have srp pistons, and the stock rods worked fine with em. i looked up the econo billet and they are like 400 bux and support 15psi. the other ones are about 700bux
|
Re:WTB: Build D Block, 350+ hp Intercooler
the econo ones require notching just like eagles as far as i know
|
Re:WTB: Build D Block, 350+ hp Intercooler
ok
|
Re:WTB: Build D Block, 350+ hp Intercooler
Why dont you just notch your block?
|
Re:WTB: Build D Block, 350+ hp Intercooler
becuase it requires notching the main girddle and i really dont want to that..plus its easier to buy ones that drop right in, then you can do it with the motor still in the car

Re:WTB: Build D Block, 350+ hp Intercooler
Ok, jdmcrx1 just fell through on my old motor, so here it is.
D16y8 4k miles since being built. eagle rods srp 9.1 pistons je rings federal mogul bearings block posts fully rebuilt head with minor port cleanup arp headstuds all new gaskets, seals, belts, oil pump, water pump everything. Name it, it has it. bottom end blueprinted to .0015 bearing specs on all throws. All machine work is flawless on this thing. decked both head and block, 3 angle valve job done. resurfaced flywheel. Will come with y8 intake manifold mated to an ls throttle body, obd0 distributor and plug wires. When I took it out there was a little smoke at idle. never did a compression test on it. Either way, it's a steal at $1000. ;) |
