WTB: aftermarket d series pistons

im looking for a set of aftermarket pistons for my d16a1/zc. let me know what you have, and what sort of dome they have.

ive been looking around for the d16a1/zc specific ones, but they are hard to find. so, im just looking for whatever kind of pistons that dont have too low of compression.

Re: WTB: aftermarket d series pistons

trying to get d series pistons with compression that is not too low. also, if new ring are included, that would be great.

Re: WTB: aftermarket d series pistons

they don't have the zc ones in stock yet. the regular d series pistons in a dohc zc will havea fullpoint lower compression. i don't want anything too low. will the high compression ones work ok? maybe if i get a 10:1 compression they will work out.... ill have to figure something out.

Re: WTB: aftermarket d series pistons

still going to be too low of compression. the high compression ones are not safe for turbo..thats what they and a few other shops told me. i found some on raceeng.com. but they are $439+ship+rings..a bit out of my price range.

all 9:1 compression pistons will weild an 8:1 compression in the zc. waaayyy too low for a daily driver. i guess i have to wait till tuner toys makes some zc ones....probably be a while >:(

get a thin headgasket and shave the head a little more

Re: WTB: aftermarket d series pistons

are you tryin to turbo? if so whats wrong with the stock pistons? is this a dohc zc or sohc?

Re: WTB: aftermarket d series pistons

its a dohc zc/d16a1. it was already turbod. im pushing way more than 200 hp on my new motor that im putting in. the stock rods/pistons won't be able to handle that much. i need something stronger

i would get a thinner headgasket and shave the head, but i don't want to get all the machine work done/pay out the ass to do so. i could take a layer out of my hks gasket if i wanted to, but that will only raise it a little.

Re: WTB: aftermarket d series pistons

well my friend had a dohc zc in a rex and he pushed 10psi fine on it tuned with uberdata that was on strock piston/rod combo.

Re: WTB: aftermarket d series pistons

trust me, i already had the motor at 10psi, but how much hp was he running? my motor is definitely not stock anymore. these things can only handle about 200-225 hp before the bottom end blows. the psi your running doesn't really matter, its how many hp you have.

i have well over the max hp rating for the bottom end...

p&p gasket matched head, reground turbo cams, bored out obd1 dohc intake manifold, 60mm throttlebody, .48/.60 t3 turbo at 10 psi and too much other stuff to list.

anyways, i just called race engineering, and their zc pistons will be $429+$88 for their "special Xt rings". a bit too much for me, so im still looking.

Re: WTB: aftermarket d series pistons

200?!?! i got a set off egay for 80 dollars...and they suck ass...i ended up throwin them away...and i was happy to waste the money to get that pathetic ---- off the net be4 someone else wasted money on them...if hes gonna get nippons he might as well do vitara pistons...nippons are basically same as stock z6 pistons and are pressed pin. Vitara's are floatin pin....so you can use the h-beam rods...
