You want RHB5? You can come see it before you buy which is nice.

I bought it at a junkyard for $75 and pulled it myself. Any turbo there is $75. This one is nice and tight and spins great.

Re: Smallish Turbo for a D-series
Hey that RHB5 I have is a VF28. Google says it's off an STi, but I'm not so sure. I ran the part number and is did match with the VF28 which is good for ~450cfm/330whp, so it's a little stronger than a 14b. I thought all RHB5's were the same, but I guess that's just the frame style. I'll get the calipers out and take some measurements to verify. If it's a VF28 it's a much better turbo than the stockers off the old Subies that are like VF12 IIRC. It may even be a ball bearing unit. I need to do some detective work though. Or just buy my baller Holset and blow that D up.

if it's a vf28 youll have fun for sure

It feels great and looks good too. No wear to the wheels at all and tight as any new turbo I've felt. Spins as it should too. I now want to make 100% sure what it is before I offer it to you though. If it ends up being a VF28 I don't want to sell it for $75 like I was when I thought it was the VF12; especially if it's a ball bearing unit.

Turbo.Spec. VF 28605 Serial No.RHB5 09617 PartsNo. 14412AA002 My search results kept saying VF28 off a mid 90's STI (obviously not USDM). I'm still not convinced that's what it is for some reason. Looks really small, but that's sitting next to a Holset and a Schwitzer so IDK. The ~450cfm seems doable for a turbo this size though. It's oil/water cooled too. |

Re: Smallish Turbo for a D-series
Also, that turbo I have IS a VF28! It looked so small and has the same triangular flange as the old RHB5's so I just figured it was off an old Suby. I guess it's a Jaydeeeeehemmm baller turbo after all. I suppose ~450cfm isn't that spectacular (in between 14b and 16g), so it's alright if it's small. Based on how the guys on the Subie forums rave about them; I was expecting something larger. I guess they're just tards. You can still buy it for cheap if you'd like. My new calipers will be here next week and I'll confirm 100% that it's a VF28.

hotside is 1/3 the a/r of a rx7 hotside, the non-mazda applications ran a godly huge hotside (like 1.8ar) whereas this one is a .45 it's been a few months since i saw it, but it's been sitting in his garage in front of his nova for a few years, he got it in a deal with a box of ----. it still had the plastic compressor caps on it (its ------- new in oem nissan box), along with the bag of oem gaskets to install it. t3 flange for sure, looks like standard t3 drain flange too. outlet was 4-bolt iirc, i'll have to stop over one day after he gets off work and make him an offer, |
