Powder coating services

Hey guys, I finally invested in a powder coating setup, so if you want anything done let me know what, and what color, and I'll send you a qoute. I'm in the Minneapolis area, which would save shipping, I can get a ton of colors, most of which will soon be in stock. Hit me up and I'll give you a price about half of the cheapest place around here. Like $100 for a set of rims, $150 demounted, remounted and rebalanced.

How about my whole car? Just kidding, but I may invest in your services in the near future. Thanks for the heads up.

Actually if I pick up an infared heat lamp, we could technically powder coat a car, I was thinking of doing mine in chrome...

www.columbiacoatings.com

also you really couldn't powdercoat a car, for one, the powder coat really isn't too flexible, also imagine stripping it completely down to nothing

sorry, didn't mean to come off as a prick, i just think since this is a diy site, why not find a free electric oven in the classifieds and buy your own, for 100 i was completely doing powdercoating myself, no need to pay tons of money or wait 3 weeks for a part, i even have a sand blaster (btw this is a MUST if you want to get into business), can't wait until i get to redo the suspension on my car, everything is getting done in nice gloss black.... well i take that back, i can wait heh.... but seriously i had 4 wheels coated for like 10 bucks in powder

Yeah, it was a joke, but seriously this stuff is fun. We did my buddies intercooler piping last night with a silver base and translucent blue on top, and it looks awesome.

For the valve cover, $25 included prep, if it's stripped, $15. I hate prepping work, it takes a lot of time to do it right.

Re:Powder coating services

whats really fun is doing odd stuff to things, i removed the "HONDA MOTOR CO." writing from my d16a6 valve cover, i think it looks pretty cool now, and yeah prepping work sucks ass. my advice for you, buy the largest blast cabinent you can, none of that 100 stuff, like spend 2-400 and get a decent sized one. you'll then have the ability to produce things quicker, and you can use the right blast media so it doesn't come off the blaster really rough... that leads to bubbles and pin holes in the final product. also, throw the parts in the oven for like 10 minutes, let it cool for about 5 and then spray on the powder, seems to work easier for me to get it in the tight to reach places.

I'm gonna be stocking cam gears soon with basic colors down, these are turning out awesome. Price will be $10 with a $20 core charge. Or you can just buy them for $25 shipped. I'll get pics up soon.

That's why I'm offering it, also some don't have the space, oven, or air compressor to run the setup. I got it for my own stuff, and friends, but thought I'd offer it at fair prices to others as well.

Re:Powder coating services

I can get high temp powder, basically in black and different grays but it will withstand 1000' F. I'm gonna stock black, but with notice I can get the others, one is supposidly silver, but high temp would look cleaner in black. For an HF mani I'd do $20, but for a header it'd cost $30 just cause of size and awkwardness. I'll also trade parts for the service.

Jung-

Note, I can only fit 2 piece headers at this time.

how much for a b18a valve cover in gold with the letters in black? please include approxamite shipping in the price. im in 33155

jung4g 10-31-2003 11:13 PM

Re:Powder coating services

Shipping would be like $10-15, and the gold with black letters would run like $35, but I wouldn't recommend gold powdercoat... I'd go all black for cleanliness, if you want gold, you could have it plate, this would be more a goldish color, not all that cool imo.

You don't jack people's posts like this jackass. Your services may be cheaper, but my biological test-tube mother always said, 'You get what you pay for."

Yeah, that's bullshit. Make your own post. I can't believe people keep jumping in this thread talking ---- and undercutting his services. >:(

Thanks for the support guys, if it seems that unfair, I'll match him, I'm not in this for money, I just have fun working in my garage, and thought I'd help out the board. I'm not offering this to any other board, just so you know.

I will get some pics up this week, my roomate is out of town for holloween and has the diggy, so I post pics soon. Stealthmode, I've only got one done, cuz I didn't want to do a bunch before I had any color requests, and then have to strip them or find more. I'll get out to the u-pull-r-parts this week and grab and bunch more, and some v/cs and whatnot.

I just want my d16y8 cam gear to be black, but no powder coat where the belt touches. ;) I have a core to send you too. Maybe two cores, not sure

jung4g 11-03-2003 12:31 AM

Re:Powder coating services

I use a high temp fiberglass tape to cover the actual belted part, so no worries, I can get a gear done in black within the next day or two and send you a pic. One thing to choose from is the gloss level, currently I have an 85% gloss black and a 95% gloss black (mirror black). Both look good and are the same price. (kinda hard to tell the difference in pictures as well, so you'll just have to guess). I've also got a flat black (not tested yet) coming this week, so soon that will be an option as well. Any d-series cam gear should work right? I've got like 3 here and I can't tell any difference.
