Re:Head Porting

hi
im from the UK and am in the process of taking the cylinder head out of my engine to port and polish also. Do you have any tips? or are there any websites with step by step guides. I am like yourself a keen DIY'er just need a push in the right direction then no doubt second time round will be easier
thanks
Nick

This is the site that got me interested in porting my own head. I bought the video and the tools from them. It was a good investment

tbh i'd say dont do anything apart from taking it apart, take it to a machine shop to have them check it for cracks, warpage and vavle guide wear.. if it gets the ok then feel free to tidy up the ports with emery cloth (amateurs+die grinders=hole in water jacket!), lap in the valves and put it back on

i took a few head porting classes last year, and i am a machinist student. I got about 10 hp out of my d16a6 by porting it. gaining flow from the single cam is really easy. i have some really nice valve job equiptment too if anyone is interested i can make a deal with ya.
