Default FS: 14b Turbo

14b turbo that has all the casting marks removed and is partialy polished. The Exhaust housing is ported out w/ the step removed. The wastegate outlet has also been ported, but still has a solid seal. The compressor and turbine fins are in good shape as can be seen in the pictures. The shaft spins freely, without play. It feels like the 13g on my car which boosts solid/ no smoke.

This turbo hasn't been on any of my cars so for all I know it could need to be balanced or the likes.

That's the right tool, but did you forget to take your seizure medicine before you went at it? Maybe the lighting was just bad lol. It's supposed to be even all the way around not jagged and sloppy. Looks like you realized how much work it is to really polish a compressor housing well by hand AFTER you started. Porting the flapper hole is worthless if you leave the stock sized flapper and is actually not a good idea at all.

Oh well, at least you got to have fun messing around with it and probably didn't cause any real damage. All used 14bs' suck royal *** anyway and 9 out of 10 have a cracked turbine wheel heat sheild (chews up the wheel if it gets too bent) and massive coking inbetween that heat sheild and the center section. They also get coked up like hell all in the piston ring and back of the turbine wheel.

The one thing that looks good on yours is that the cracking of the 6cm housing is rather light, so that usually means it's a lowish (100k or less) mile turbo that hasn't been abused. Clean up that porting and put a new comp housing on it (I have one if you need it. Free you pay shipping) and then clean the turbo and it should boost happily for awhile still. With the porting cleaned up to non-Rainman standards and a normal unmolested housing it should easily get $100 shipped. Since they aren't worth the cost of a rebuild they truely are a throwaway turbo IMO. GL with ur sale and bump for ya there hoss.

I got it with the casting marks removed, so it looked like worser ***. Tried to polish it but didn't feel like busting out the dremel to get the tight spots.

Yeah it looks pretty bad due to the lighting, flourecent lights and a flash suck.

and the main thing I did with the wastgate flapper was open it up behind the flapper arm to it has the ability to open as much as the stock 14b wasgate arm can push it. I know it wont go all the way 90* but it is limited a little so now it can open as much as the arm goes.

I have a 1992 TSI with a 13g on it....

But this 14b hasn't been on it, or any other car in my possesion.

I don't get the point of your whole red vs. blue ----.
