How much boost were you running with this turbo? Mileage on the turbo? How much shaft play?

How soon do you think it will need a rebuild?

Re: Evo 8 big 16g for sale

Does it have that funky ass twin scroll flange?

Re: Evo 8 big 16g for sale

i was running the stock 18 psi. When the turbo was pulled the car had 50,000 miles and i put about 5,000 on it. It has very little shaft play. It probally would need to be rebuilt in 75,000 miles.
ill post pictures soon

Yup that one has the funky flange...And one more thing that makes it hard to work with is that you cant's clock the exhuast housing. The inlet flange and the exhuast flange are one peice of cast iron.

If you can make it work it's a nice big turbo for cheap.

Take a pic from the top down. So I can see the top of the flange and how everything is clock to see if it'd be worth it to make it work. Also looooowerrrrrrrr.

find a evo manifold and it should bolt onto your car.

Re: Evo 8 big 16g for sale

Won't work Rene. Only Evo manifold that'll work is Evo1-3 since they still use the normal 4G63T as the DSM's here. All the Evo's after that are flipped around with the timing belt on the right hand side of the car. That would mount the close where the ps,ac, and alt are. :-\ Only way it would work if I made my own manifold cause the work it would take to say even buy a ssauto evo8 manifold wouldn't be worth it. I've got the TIG but don't have the downtime for the car to mock up the manifold for the turbo to fit. If it was cheap enough then maybe but still would have to be cheap since alot has to go into making it work.

The evo manifold works on an f22a1. I don't have it installed yet but I have the manifold redrilled. I had to lose the pw steering and relocate the alternator to where the pws pump was.

Re: Evo 8 big 16g for sale

yeah it'll fit if I relocate a bunch of ---- around but it's not worth it. Only other way is just making a manifold to keep it in the same position as the stock 14b is.

Yeah I know I'm still not 100% sure how my downpipe is going to clear the crossmember.

Re: Evo 8 big 16g for sale

Bottom line is it's not worth doing all the custom work just to run a 16g rofl. Just buy an E316G that faces the right way and call it good. This topic has been beaten repeatedly on DSM forums too.
