The Zinc plating is actually there to prevent rust. The part of the rotor that contacts the pad does slowly lose the zinc plating, but the contact of the pad and rotor eats up metal and alleviates any chance of rust building up.

Just got my front rotors and brake pads today-- they're feckin sick! Not installed yet, but once they are my car should be able to stop on a dime even with an HMT mom in the passenger seat. or something. Thanks LSD, and you should consider sales in the product your name implies O0
