Any who here knows what the rainbow color means? That's right, heat! As in oil starvation and overheating.


Here is the bearing as it came out of the #4 rod. Nice, huh?

Yes it was. Crower Rods and Arias Pistons don't mean ---- when you're starving bearings for oil. Have any of you people run into starvation problems? It's the OG pump that was in it with 150K on it, but I mic'd the whole thing and it checked out peachy. I think it may have been bouncing off the rev limiter for like 4 seconds at the track last weekend.

 

Is this another D16y8? Everyone I know has had problems with these, and I have taken one up to build as my project motor. I hope I can solve this problem.

so besides the bearings (and probly the oil pump) what all is fucked up in a situation like this?

 

The crank is probably fucked, you maybe able to polish out some of it, but you have to becareful not to polish out to much of the nitrade coating.

I cant believe you put together such a nice engine and didnt replace a 50 dollar oil pump, your a tech... you know better

 

That's just it. I spec'd it, and I know it's not the pump. I know for a fact it's not the pump. BTW, It's a Z6, not a Y8.

I got lucky on this one. I ripped the crank out and had it ground to .010 undersized. I'm gonna put oversized bearings in it. And, just because of bad voodoo, I'm gonna replace the pump.

 

have u been taking hard corners lately?

if you haven't, you might want to get the block cleaned out (dipped) possible oil blockages?
