Got a New Whip ... Jeep cherokee
Its a 1991 Cherokee laredo. has 200xxx miles and has a slight lift with 31" BFG's. The rear end is stock and im pretty sure could use a new pinion/gear set of about 4.10
The sucky thing that it gets horrible MPG's but then again i dont drive it everyday. Set me back a cool 1,200.
I plan on getting some lockers and ring/pinion for the rear and maybe a good tune up. other than that, im gonna rock her till the wheels fall off.

You need to gear the front and the rear. By the looks of it you have a Dana 35 rear. Don't put one cent into that. Its worthless and they break all the time. If you lock it you will destroy it.

so your telling me i need to find a dana44?
You will be hard pressed to find an XJ 44 anymore for a reasonable price. Just get a Chrylser 8.25 out of a 97 and up and it will be 29 spline. Or get a Ford 8.8 out of a 96-00 Explorer. It will be disc and its 31 spline with tons of aftermarket support. You will need to weld on some perches though. I just did one on my buddies XJ. It wasn't hard to do.
