I want to change the tranny fluid in my DX 5 spd and I was wondering what everyone puts in it? How much does it take to do a change and where is the fill plug? I think I see it right under the short ram intake on the side of the tranny?

Man, we had a great thread yesterday, but the forum software got reloaded. Guy had a step by step on how to change your tranny fluid in a 4g civic/crx. basically it takes about 2 qt's of 10-30 or honda MTF. The drain is a 3/8 plug, and the fill is a 17mm just on the top side of the rh axle.

Maybe that user will repost.

Sweet! I just picked up 2 litres of MTF from Honda and I changed the oil last night. I saw the drain plug but I wasn't sure if the one just above and to the left of the axle was the fill bolt. They sure put that in a "NICE" spot! I will put it back up on the hoist and knock the fluid out and see how I can get the new stuff in. It should be interesting.

 

just get a small funnel and some hose to fit on the end of the funnel and run it down to the fill hole through the engine bay

manual honda tranny dont use fluid, they used 10w oil or same oil you use in the engine.its more like a transaxle than a transmission, hope you already know that.

 

most people use 10w 30 motor oil, but there is honda mtf (manual transmission fluid) that you can use

 

i use 10w40 in the summer and 10w30 in the winter
