Recommendations for this 02 Civic turbo kit
Hey guys, looking for some opinions on how to proceed on this car a guy brought in, customer bought the car as-is and luckily never boosted it hard as he realized something was wrong. I generally don't work on any Hondas so forgive my ignorance.
It's an '02 Civic EX 1.7 with a turbo kit that I'm guessing is off ebay? Turbo says Garrett but the quality of the casting is pretty suspect compared to the garretts I've seen. In addition the water cooling lines are all for show! The SS outlet line just loops back to the turbo inlet connection. No intercooler. It has this black control box pictured below to run two additional injectors mounted just before the TB and an S-AFC. Wiring was all disconnected to make it pass smog, though it's baffling that they were concerned about the wiring but had no problem overlooking the turbo and piping during the visual inspection! I'm not sure how well these black boxes work..I'm guessing not well since they had a AFC wired in too. I'm more of a stand-alone guy so interested in trying out hondata or crome etc. What do you think?

So the set-up is garbage..that's too bad, looked like it was junky. The car only has 30K miles on it and very clean and tight otherwise. Has a race-type clutch also. I may just wire it back up (30 minutes of work) and throw it on my dyno just to see how sucky it is....I'll post a dyno vid later this week. Thanks for the help guys!

Doesn't look that bad , all the basics are there.
Put on a CDM intercooler
Toss the extra injectors
Chipped ECU
bigger injectors.
I had one of those cars and was going to turbo it (Got written off)
all the hard work is done... But the stuff ont hat car does look Ghetto Fab...and not in a good HMT way either.

the problem is not the turbo setup its the car, returnless fuel system, non chippable ecu, piece of ---- engine, ect, ect.
I have one of those cars in my driveway, its the wifes daily, it will be gone by summer. JUNK!
