Default Trans prob: Serious dammage or not?

I have 118,000 on this tranny its the stock trans from my car 93 del sol s, (it was on my d15b7, dx trans or w/e you call it) anyway ive got a build z6 in it now and I was doing a nice 20+psi burnout in 1st then 2nd gear, then just let it ride and went for a 3rd gear panty ripper right away, all good right? NO! the next time I accelerate I notice my trans is grinding as I put it in 2nd/3rd/4th gear. It has never done this before but now it does every time unless I double clutch (gay). My question is, it this somthing simple like a bearing or gear slipping out of place? I can take it apart I have before to replace the ISB, but if somthing is worn I'll just stick in the transmission I have that was originally on the d16z6.

Is the transmission (ratio's) any different between the d15b7 and z6? would it be best to keep/rebuild the trans from the b7 or put in the one from the z6?

with a hydro trans, how do you adjust that. the line is bled properly, is there any way i can fix this... My trany will shift smooth from 1-2 but 2-3 and 3-4 will grind unless if i let the engine rev down below 2000 rpms...

Dont think its the tranny had a similar issue with my last trans...

Oh and sorry for the thread jack..

There are a number of things that can cause it, hub binding on the splines, PP worn out, TB worn, etc. Usually you gotta pull the trans to find out.

9 times out of 10 if its grinding in (almost) every gear, its the clutch, rarely you could have a trans/engine mount fucked up, or shift linkage problems. Obviously check the visual things under the hood first before you go yanking the trans out.

EDIT: I have also seen this on new clutches with discs that are thinner than the factory, and the flywheel was stepped too far.

Second run wasnt much better. I busted my 2nd gear in the burnout box. My own mistake. Ive been told not to shift in the burnout. But I did, and I felt something break.

I launched a bunch better on 2nd run with a 1.741 60 ft, but my 2nd gear locked out for a bit and then I just jammed it in and went from there.

All in all. Im very happy with my MPH for the power im making. A new trans and Ill be out there bringing back 10.99 very soon.

Most of you know my setup but here it is anyway.

I'm not sure it gonna help you, maybe it's not the same problem, but it says what you did wrong

Last time I broke a tranny I was N/A and a shaft wanted to go outside to breath fresh air and to bleed on the street.

thanks for the replies. I've decided to just yank it out and stick in the z6 trans I have laying around, i'll pull this one apart when I get that far. I'm also building another z6 w/ sleeves this time and i'll end up replacing the clutch again if it needs it or not.
