I just bought this chipped p28, I noticed that RP18 had the resister replace with a straight wire.
Is this a problem, will it affect how it runs? What resister should go there? thanks

 

that jumper wire is the same as the 'resistor' you see in RP4. Someone converted that ecu from auto to manual and they didn't have the professional looking jumper wires like you see in RP4

Look for lack of check engine lights to make sure the ECU was chipped correctly, or the program it's running is for your setup.

A bad chip job causes a solid CEL with no codes, and limp home mode.

 

ok thanks guys, next time I think I'll do it my self. But $80 for a chipped ecu was a good deal just to have an extra ecu.

 

you should also look to see if that J1 is left open like it looks in the picture.

Without J1 being jumpered that ecu will not look at your external chip and will run the stock code.

could be a sign of someone ------- up a chip job and selling it off as stock.

 

no J1 is jumped you cant see it very well in the pic. Justed had a chip burnt today(thanks Rich) runs fine so far nothing unusual. thanks for the help

 

whats the big deal?all it is was someone converted a auto p28 to a 5 speed.
