They're unnecessary. Just take it out and sell it as scrap.

 

no final drive= *** loads of MPG. Look @ the weight you're saving.

 

not only that, but your rotational mass is diminished, making you accelerate faster.

 

Not to mention that the removal of those unneccessary gears drops the frictional loss of the transmission, just look at what they do with straight cut race boxes.

 

I just put mine in a pizza box.

 

To sum things up.. Remove it, don't replace it... It saves weight, and as a result, the motor turns faster. You will notice a huge jump in your acceleration through the RPMs, as it's less strain on the motor.. Also, removal of 4th gear will do the same. You'll have a 3 spd monster.. but it's worth it. The quicker you can get to the speed you're going to cruise at, the quicker you'll be reducing fuel consumption.

 

I swaped my honda final drive out for a 4.10 posi out of a ford. That furker rips now!!!!!!!

 

i took mine out but i wish i had it back the car accels so fast i just break tire loose even in 5th gear i lay 1 wheel wonders down the highway like its my job its kinda cool though for the dumb *** in the car watching the speedo go from 100 to off the meter in like 3 seconds
