It looks quite destructive, and from i've read i could just goto the paint store and pickup the supplies needed. Its gonna be one hell of a 4th of july ill tell you what.

 

You need aluminum shavings/powder and rust.

Easy to make, cheap to buy, hard to get lighted and burns extremely quick/bright/hot.

 

get it lit on the hood of a car and wait for it to burn through to the ground

 

sparklers wok good for lighting it also. that ---- will burn through alot of things before it stops.

 

I'd probably try that next time, the magnesium ribbon works but it's a pain in the ***. Not only do you have to hold the lighter on it for a while to get it started, but it'll blow out easily and when it gets to the thermite it'll go out before igniting the thermite. Only way we could get the ribbon to light the thermite was to coil it up and press the coiled part into the thermite, and even then it was hit or miss.

Or, you can just buy it online for cheap. Rig up some iron and battery in some salt water.
