Default prelude/ h22 stumbling

so my bud calls me and says everytime he lets off the gas in his 01 prelude sh it wants to die. sometimes he can feather the gas and keep it runnin but most of the time just dies. runs fine until stopping. go over and look at it- valves chatterin like a mother and you hear bubbling sound in exhaust. tells me he was doin 120+mph and hears clunk under car and goes back to check piece that flew from under car and looks like whats left of plastic casing but can't find anything missing under hood and didn't even know if it was on the road or not to begin with. only thing i see missing is stock intake box where cai is but this is the first newer lude i've worked on. so pulled vc and all valves there so reset valve lash. normal honda chatter now but problem a little worse after valves adjusted. no fluids mixing. compression tested 170-180 across cylinders. scanner shows misfire in cyl 4 and 2. cap and rotor look ok. plug gap ok. plug wires not very old and injector plugs snapped tight. start pulling inj clips while idling and pulling 1 and 3 will kill it or come close to. #2 makes a little difference in idling and #4 less difference than that. pop in a set of saturated inj's from my 97 civic and idling is even worse. don't know if the civic hx inj's are same cc's but different delivery or not since hx only run 12 valves till vtec. he had to run to catch a flight so that's as far as i got, but now i've got a few days to step back and try to think "what next?" i'm gonna throw some other plug wires on and put the original inj's back in and move the inj's around and see if the problem moves cylinders when he gets back but don't know after that. Any thoughts or experiences on something like this?

^^^ holy ----! didn't realize that post was turning out so damned long. but if you're gonna ask for help, i think you should at least let others know the whole problem and how deep into troubleshooting you've gone. thanks in advance.

Cliffs Notes--
01 prelude sh tries to die coming to a stop after 120 mph run
--cleared egr cel and hasn't come back (don't know how old cel was)
--can hear cylinder inconsistancy in the exhaust
--scan shows misfire of cyl's 4 and 2
--cap, rotor, plug gap, injector clips ok
--compression tested ok
--plug wires pretty new
--pulling inj clips on 1&3 kill it: 2&4 make little difference
--injectors from 97 civic hx make idling worse (gonna put original ones back in and see if problem moves cyl's)
Don't know if these ludes have any extra ---- involved in ignition system. Can't work on it again til buddy gets back to town. What am I missing?

CRANK ANGLE SENSOR?
My friend has a 00 lude and his went bad, caused the same issue as your describing. Weird cause I dont believe it had anything to do with the Injectors

I just rethought what i posted and if the cam timing was off, he would throw a CYP check engine light because the distributor is fixed and uses the CYP in the distributor and the CKP sensor on the oil pump to determine that the timing is correct. If either one of these was messed up, he would get a code for it. This is just for the OBD2 h22's tho. OBD1 h22's have the CKP and TDC sensor in the distributor and not on the oil pump.

also, it would drive like absolute crap if either one of the crank sensors was messed up.
