Default Turbo Question, Should a turbo be cocked?

Just a Question...

Should a turbo positioned other than horizontal. Wouldn't this cause an unnecessary shear between the compressor wheel and compressor seal (or bearings) due to the weight of the compressor, turbine and shaft and cause the turbo to fail quickly?

This is one of the only times where I think something shouldn't be cocked.
