so here is the situation.

just had my new xenocron fuel pump installed yesterday.
now when i turn my car key on i can here a kind of grating/humming from the fuel pump for a second, then it stops.
also whenever coming to a complete stop the car will bog down and die if i dont press the gas at just the right time(right after it bogs all the way down).

my first guess would be that my car is losing fuel pressure when it comes to a complete stop. but the noise from the fuel pump makes me wonder.
im going to try and adjust this shitty FPR that i have to make more pressure and see if that helps.

anybody have any ideas? i also had my stock cam put in, switching from a 272. im wondering if the pump is supposed to hum once and shut off. or keep humming?

*figured out the problem, fuel pickup too low*

no dashpot diaphram(but this was never an issue before)

that first hum is the motor being primed.... it might be the main relay ------- up on you.... just switched one out for my buddy today

 

why is my **** not showing up?

would the relay cause it to turn off?

its strange, when i come to a complete stop(if i keep rolling it keeps running) it will shut off slowly and i cant do anything.
stepping on the gas just makes it shut off faster

 

well his pick up it alot higher then stock.
I ended up putting a different pickup in because the one that come with the fuel pump make you car run out of gas at 1/4 of a tank.

also did you make sure you hooked positive to positive? :P

 

ok im a little below a 1/4 of a tank so i will fill up and see what happens.

 

You need to keep atleast 1/2 a talk so the problems below dont arrise. Learned this the hard way. Buddy of mine still had 1/4 tank with the walbto like 7 years ago. troubleshooting the **** out of the car



ended up thorwing some more gas in the tank and guess what ran tighttt

like i said im going to fill it up and see if that helps the problem.

 

make sure your get to 1/2 tank to eliminate any doubt

 

ok the pickup was the problem, dosent turn off now that i have a full tank.
