so my bittorrent isnt working correctly, for some dumbass reason my modem drops the connection about 30sec after i start BT up. if i cycle the power on the modem it will connect, download for about 30 sec then drop again but i can surf the interweb for hours with BT off and everything is fine. is my isp doing this to me?

no jago i have sbc dsl and i am connected directly to the modem, its ------- pissing me off. it just started all of a sudden since i started dl'in solidworks

 

I would save teh torrent you want to download and just reinstall the bittorrent client. You ports may have gotten jacked up or something. Sometimes a reinstall can straighten it out.

Do you tinker with your router at all? like do you have certain ports forwarded or something?

 

well i did reinstall 5.0 then i upgraded to 6.0 when that didn't help, still hasn't changed

 

Well i remeber using Kazaa back inthe bday and it would have issues with teh ports localy on your pc not the router. i should have been more clear, i ment reinstall to see if ports onteh PC would be reset but then asked about his router which would be differetn ports.

Are you using any sort of firewall or Peer gardian? has teh PC been scanned with adaware and or spybot that sort of stuff.

 

Bittorrent ran like crap on my computer. I switched to Utorrent and no problems since.

 

wow utorrent is the exact same thing, they even use bittorrent's online port checking
