Being a Wachovia employee, I always know about promotions and things that we offer. We just rolled out a product [1/10/08] called Way2Save. As I can't compare it to Bank of America's "Keep The Change"... I won't. The way this works, is each time u swipe your debit card, $1 is Xferred from your checking acct to your savings, and the savings pays 5.00% APY! So, we setup auto Xfers to the savings for each month, and I was wondering how much I could afford to transfer, because I'm already Xferring w/ my purchases. turns out I use my debit card over 50 times in a statement. Ain't that some ----?

My question to you is... How many times (in a given statement cycle) do YOU swipe your card?

i use my card for gas.. and grocery shopping like 3 times a month.. gas i fill up whenever tank is near E so meh.. prolly 20 times?

its usually between 15 - 20

50 times a statement is crazy.. lol

yea, till you forget to swap that money in your checkbook, the overdraft your debit account. me and my fiancee have the same account, we're probably well over 50 transactions per statement

 

damn i use mine two to three times a day. what bank is that your working for? i was thinking about getting the other deal a while ago but the nearest bank id 30 mies away.

 

w/ what bank? I had "Keep The Change" w/ Bank of America. I don't like that as much as this Wachovia WAY2SAVEWachovia. Let me know if I can do anything for you!

 

We average about 80+ transactions in a statement period. I ---- myself everytime I look at the bank statements. Now our credit cards are linked together so I'm thinking about just charging everything and not touching our checking account until it's time to pay the credit card. Plus that way if we don't have enough for some reason we can just pay what we can afford on the credit card.

My bank already takes $25/month and puts it into my savings. I'm not really into that idea so I always just transfer it back into checking. :P

That's probably to avoid any monthly fees on the savings account. That's the thing, w/ Wachovia, we still give you the ability to Xfer it back to checking, BUT we're paying you a 5.00% APY on the funds you leave in there. This isn't an ordinary savings account, as you can only Xfer $100 per month into the account, aside from debit card and auto debit transactions. BUT, if you make 50 transactions per month, and Xfer $100 in, in a 12 month time frame, you've saved $1800, plus you've been earning a fairly high interest on those funds for that time. The way I look at it, I just opened my account w/ that service (as it's brand new) and I'm calculating what I will have to spend for Christmas..
