Default downpipe mounting noob ?

im going to be putting something of an exhaust on my civic. had a noob question about mounting the downpipe. i want to put another bracket on the lower portion of the downpipe and connect it to where the factory header mounted by the oil pan.
question is do i mount the downpipe to the engine then have the flex section afterwards
or
do i put the flex on then mount it to the engine after the flex

my impression is to mount the DP to the oilpan mount then have the flex after that to isolate the movement of the exhasut.

no **** for this question as this is my bosses computer.

i say your making ---- to complicated. make dp, add flex pipe, hang exhaust. ---- all the extra work.

then have my manifold crack from supporting the turbo, downpipe and one end of my exhaust. i would rather put the extra effort in.

i think thats a good idea to brace the DP against the stock header bolt near the oil pan. I also saw some other guy's set up with a brace on the actual turbo to help support the mani using that same oem bolt. maybe using both might help even more, so the flex pipe absorbs most of the movement instead of creating a moment on your mani/headstuds.

not my picture. you can see that he used the stock bolt, on the turbo end he uses bolt -> brace -> turbo -> mani..

i know this isnt what you asked for, but i figured if you're trying to prevent cracking... it might help

there is a stock bolt above the oil pan, closer to the slave cylinder. it's where the stock header brace attaches to on the block. i think you could brace the DP and manifold from this point, you will just need to make your own brace arms.
