NA? Turbo?

All cars have problems

Not my favorite body style, but they still look pretty good.

check for blown apex seals. they are bad ***. you cant hydrolock a rotary, and you can boost a stock 13b(if it isnt crapped out) as much as your comfortable with.

Those ******* are bad ***! I'm suprised they're not more popular. But that's just me. I like all rotaries.

i owned 2 of them before it was 81 gsl, and 83 gs all out racing beat, i miss it i was thinking about getting another one maybe 88-9 turbo model i didn`t like the carburated, i always had to keep adjusting it. There good cars alot of people hate them because they don`t understand them, their engines look small but they put out i never had a problem with them.

I had an 87 GXL, non turbo. I miss it. Anyway, make sure the compression is good, i.e. apex seals. Also drive it for about 20 mins and check the temp, a lot of them run really hot. Its usually as simple as replacing the t-stat. Don't buy an automatic! You'll hate it. 87-89 were the best years, and they are usually cheaper then the 90-92, because thats what everyone wants. I'm gonna get another one soon, hopefully. Sometimes I can't beleive I traded it for a Civic, but the Civic was a lot newer and I really wanted one at the time, oh well, live and learn.

the biggest thing to check is the compression. Take it to a mazda dealership and have them check it, they have a special tool to do it with. You can do it with a regular one if you have to, your looking for 3 even bounces on the neddle. Also make sure it doesn't smoke, a little smoke on start up is ok, but you should be able to get on it with out it smoking. Also make sure it doesn't get above about have way on the temp gauge wile your driving it. Heat is death to a rotary and the stock gauge isn't very accurate
