Default D16Y8, Ebay Turbo Kit.. Wastegate Help

Friend has a Stock D16y8, just installed an ebay turbo kit, has an external waste gate, he wants to run 7psi, Hes not using a boost controller, first off is my understanding of the Plumbing for the Wg Correct?

A vaccumn Line from the turbo into a T fitting, then a line from the fitting to the bottom nippel of the Wg then a line from the top of the wg to a regulator, then a line from a regulator back to the T?

also what spring should be inside the waste gate? The kit came with a Black and Silver spring?

So the regulator or boost controller would go between the turbo and waste gate?

And what does this Diagram Pertain too?

Like why are you saying not to have somthing running from the top of the WG, and this diagram says to?

( im not saying your wrong, im just wondering the difference)

Top port is for electronic boost controllers so just ignore it and pretend it does not exist. You should cap the turbo fitting and run a line from the intake mani/vacum manifold to the bottom port with the boost controller in line.Getting your vacum source off the intake mani will account for the losses going through the intercooler etc and give you a more accurate boost setting.

The BOV,Wastegate.boost gauge etc should all come from the same source. You can gettho it up with tee's or order a vacum manifold from Tuner Toys to put all vacum feeds on one source You want them all feeding off the intake mani as that is the place you want to be reading pressure.

So pretty much run a line from a single port on the Intake manifold, with a t on the end and plug the WG, and bov to the ends of the T

Also, the car is gonna go untuned at 8 psi for now, what are some things that we can do to keep the car running decent

Retard the timing, go for some hotter plugs, up the Fuel pressure

hotter plugs is a no no, get the 6's like he said. when routing vacuum lines you can usually find an open nipple on the IM. if you decide to T off the FPR it's normally a good idea to only run 1 T off of it. like say you T the vacuum line for the FPR and use that one for the bov, then find anoother source for the WG and gauge.

using the pic as reference, the green line goes to the WG. The black one to any boost source (BOV line or anywhere post-intake manifold will work).
