So I bought a kegerator about 2 weeks ago. Normal full size fridge in the over/under config.
5lb c02 bottle, regulator, and about 10 ft of hose to go from the tank to the keg.
From the keg to the spout is about another 10ft of hose. The guy I got the kegerator from told me to have this much hose to act as a restrictor for the beer coming out of the keg.
Since the fridge is old, it only holds a steady 47 degrees. Perfect drinking temp is 38.
co2 is set at 12psi. I've tried less pressure but it just makes the beer flat.

I've had the keg about a week and this bitch is still foaming like crazy. I'm pouring it right, but it's still about 1/5 beer to 4/5 foam ratio. The beer tastes good but the waiting for the foam to settle is getting old.



Why is my beer so foamy?

 

i've heard that from alot of people with kegerators.....don't kno if its common or you have to set up so much length of hose or whatever......I just stick to my jockey box....portable and easy to hook up. Never any foam unless the kegs are tapped dry

 

maybe try turning up the pressure just a bit? i would love to have a kegorator but i dont want to spend the money.

 

My uncle is trying to give one away but he's never had any problems like that from his. Once I get ahold of the one he's giving away I'll see if I can't find anything out for you.

 

It's all in the tap. We've had a few parties this year, one time we got a bunk tap, no matter what we did it pissed foam for the whole keg. When it ran out, got another keg and another tap and it worked fine. Since then, we've held on to that tap and had no troubles what so all (five kegs since). See if you can't get a new tap.

you'll probably be using a d style tap, but here is a list of beers and the tap style used.

 

5 feet of 3/16"(inside diameter) hose at 11-13 psi should be right around what you want it at. does your beer line have pockets of air in it? if so then you might want to turn the pressure up a bit.
