What exactly are 'sleeves'?
I understand its the film pressed inside the cylinder bore, to create the smooth surface. However, what constitutes good sleeves? how are they rated by their smoothness? How do they effect the over all stability of the engine? I understand higher compression usually means resleeving is a good method of keeping the engine alive?
Could anyone explain how or why? who makes good sleeves?
Hopefully this doesn't get marked off as a stupid question hehe

honda blocks are diff that lets say small block chevys. but they all have somewhere were water can get around the cyclinder. for obvious reasons. sbc have water jackets. which is pretty much the same thing. but are closed deck. with a couple holes for water to go into the head.
Nah chacko, this isn't a stupid question. Alot of people won't ask this kind of question, but I'm glad someone did because even learning about an engines basics will help out when building a motor.
yeah Onyx and I are looking at getting our own shop now and rebuilding my car with something completely new.
This is and some of the head work is the ---- I don't understand? Titanium parts are being frowned on now a days right?
