Default transmission going to ----

Well I just noticed my tranny started making a funny noise its a 97 civic lx 5 speed and it sounds almost like a rattle-faint grinding noise when the car is at idle...then when i push the clutch in it goes away im thinking maybe mainshaft bearing or maybe even the clutch??
