If it a Y7 hatch, no. The Y7 and Y8 auto use a 3 wire IAC that is mounted to the throttle body. If he has a Y8 stick then it will work but you have to plug it in first and then bolt it up because the clearance on the intake is too tight to get the plug on when its mounted.

2 wire iacv have a long base and short base mounting

3 wire has cs noted is found on a d16y7'

auto d16y5
auto d16y8

must use 3 wire iacv has they are located on the throttle body not on the manifold has a 2 wire iacv

the car is a 5spd for sure and i am almost positive it is one of the lower models. i really dont pay attention to engine codes that arent a6, z6, or y8.

so the only real difference is where it is mounted and 2 or 3 wire. sounds like we have a good shot at this working. i guess i could post a litl emore info. the car is a bone stock 96, but other than that im not sure. i havent seen the car yet
