Default turbo bmw 4cyl ?

i got a new beater, 92 e36 4 banger. has a "m42" 1.8L dohc 138hp ***** slow motor. if anyone has any turbo experience with these post some pics and junk so i can get an idea. i did find one local thats boosted guess its doing ok .guy who turboed it says its about as fast as a e36 m3 right now but the air flow meter is to small. i know even though it looks hard, a turbo can be stuffed in , but im not too sure whats out there for managment.

found this too

Forged crank stock
Forged Rods stock
4 Valves per cylinder flows very well
New combustion chamber designed to maximize squish and fuel mixing for a complete burn
Integrated piston oil squirters (very beneficial for boosting, cools piston crown)
Sodium Filled valves (once again dissapates heat, great for boosting)
Strong iron block
No timing belt to break
Very well balanced and likes to rev

You can turbo the m42, it has been done before. THe m42 runs forged internals so that makes it even better for your application. THe only disadvantage is the high compression ratio at 10.1:1 (if I remember correctly). However, alot of bmw guys solve this by using a thicker mls headgasket custom made by cosmetic. As far as engine management, I have seen guys use megasquirt, greddy emange, or simply a chip tune used on the larger m50/52 + s50/52 engines. As far as a turbo manifold, 666 fabrication makes a great piece http://store.666fabrication.com/m42-...d-e30-fit.html (link says e30 fittament but I bet he can make one for the e36). Also try positing on the forced induction section of bimmerforums, you'll find a couple turbo m42s over there. Good luck

ya i found both those sites with a little googling. i think this thing has a chipable ecu but im not to sure about anything yet. i think i read somewhere they have direct injection that makes it easier to boost high compression, that might have been a differnt bmw motor though , havent seen where my injectors are yet

My best friend has a turbo 95' 318is.....he knows anything and everything about turboing the m42 engine. I could ask him any questions you may have. He is also on a site like dtmpower.com or something that has a lot of information on Bmw's
