One of my friends was getting about 42mpg out his new chevy turbo diesel silverado, and could still haul a trailer behind it. Even the most I got my b16 to do was 37mpg, then I put a cherry bomb mid section in the exhaust to quiet down the straight pipe and I dropped down to mid 20's :P

me and a friend pulled a trailer with a for v8 powerstroke for abuot 100 miles and burned less than a 1/8th of a tank. the needle barely moved. they get way better gas mileage but the oil changes and other mantanence are expensive. it almost out weighs the fuel savings

they probably do since diesels have more energy per gallon then gas.
