Default work related injury...pics

I work in a fabrication shop, we make forklift/crane/trolly systems for the most part, but do side jobs for local buisnesses. I was deburring a piece of metal on a disc sander, and it caught my glove and pulled my thumb in. Didnt see it happen, didnt feel it until about 1 block from the hospital.

ABOUT A WEEK LATER:

3 weeks from when it happened...

Not sure what is going to happen yet. Either skin graft or nail bed graft depending on the nail, or if it happens to close on its own. This is the dumbest/worst thing ive ever done.

Anyone have any reassuring experiences on the outcome of something like this? what are your opinions/practices when using a disc sander, or other machine that might catch a glove? Ive heard from a few people that i shouldnt have been wearing gloves.

I have dealt with these types of injuries before. I always tell my employees, before picking up a piece of equipment such as a grinder, wire wheel, etc make sure that there is a proper safety shield and tell them not to wear gloves or anything that may get caught in the wheel.

Damn dude, that looks like it hurt. I actually almost cut my left index finger off last saturday. I was using a cut off wheel on my hood getting my rad. to fit , let off the trigger of the cutter , and my finger caught the blade while it was still spinning.

Lucky nothing bad. the blade pretty much cauterized the cut

gloves might seem like they will protect you, but on certain equip. they might put you at a greater risk

Oh ----! That's some serious damage. You don't need that nail anyways. I hate trimming fingernails.

damn looks more like a finger then a thumb. my uncle has two nubs as thumbs now because of when he was younger working on the farm. he would put the tractor belt back on without shutting off the machine.
