Figured someone on here might know a little bit about bong/pipe construction or why work more than others, or maybe someone could just tell me whats happenning

On a regular water bong, water sits at the bottom, burn the green at the side and it comes through the water and up to you

I got bored at homedepot and made a pipe today. Shaped just like this in 1/2" ID

Works perfect as a regular pipe. But I gave it that circle at the bottom so I could fill the bottom loop with water for some smoother pulls.

PROBLEM- As soon as you start inhaling, water comes right up with it. Doesnt sit at the bottom and bubble like I thought it would

Notice I dont have a shotgun hole, if that matters or not

Anyone have a suggestion on how to make it water friendly?

because thats a pipe and not a bong

a bong has to pull outside air/smoke through the water into a chamber that you pull the air out of the top of, you have no chamber, it like trying to suck air through your garden hose when theres water in it

 

I don't even smoke and I get it.

Its the same as a bong but just in a different shape I thought.... the way I made it anyways

lol, WTF would make the water stay at the "bottom" when you're sucking through it? :1 When you turn on a water hose does the water in the middle of the hose stay where it's at and the rest of the water move around it? :1

Not quite. You still need a chamber at the bottom. And the inhaled smoke must be above the water level and the smoke coming in has to pass through the water. Damn, if that's what I was like when I used to blaze up, then I'm glad I quit. :1
