Transmission ID help.. maybe car too..
Bought an 88 DX. At first I thought he was bullshitting me since many people told me they didn't make a DX in that light blue for that year. This true? The guy had a D15Z1 in it, with a 21 spline transmission. I measure the ends of each axle to be ~1". Only code on the outside is (from what I can see, the sticker is a bit chewed up) L3-1544243. Any other way I can ID this tranny? I don't want to throw it all together and find that it has HF gears. Thanks

Also found this -
PL3/A000... which tells me it's either an HF or a DX transmission.
I cleaned the transmission a bit more and found that the code is PL3 3000. This means it's an 88 SI, unless someone switched transmission housings?

I still have the case open. I know I can count the teeth on the diff gear and the one that "meshes" with it (is this right?). I assume I have to remove the entire gear set to look at this gear that meshes. How do I find the other gear ratios? Do I count the number of teeth on each gear and the divide it by this gear that meshes with the diff gear?
