My turbo is smoking
I just installed my custom turbo kit this weekend and my car is smoking. the turbo was brand new. Does any have any idea what causes the turbo to burn oil? And how to stop it from burning oil.
How much oil is it burning? It may be normal break in. But, if it's alot of oil, and you have run the turbo for a while, I would say, that your oil pressure is too high going into the turbo. When oil pressure is too much in the oil inlet, the oil will push past the turbo seals, causing it to burn oil. you can lower the inlet psi by installing a needle valve and a pressure guage after the needle valve, on the oil inlet line.
Also check the drain. Make sure it doesn't have any kinks in it and make sure it is big enough.

so far I have about 160miles on the turbo. It smokes mostly when I'm coming to a stop. I don't know what else to check. Is there anyother way to check the oil pressure of the turbo without cuting my feed line and installing a gauge? Any other suggestions will be helpful. Thank guys
