Default ugghh Im lost

Okay, so here it goes. Im doing my first turbo setup on a sohc zc, I've gotten everything needed, besides a management setup, I went through the sticky post's above, but Im still lost.

It needs to stay relatively cheap, because it sucks living from paycheck to paycheck. I dont want to go to Intec, there expensive and I've heard horror stories about them, I was looking at the greddy "blue box" emanage system, some people talk about VAFC's, I need input

Im just running a basic setup, dont want to run more then 8lbs. What type of management should I run?

FMU's are a pita to use, regardless of how "simple" some of the newer idiots rolling around here say they are. A fmu shouldn't be taken over 5 psi or so, it jumps your rail pressure way up, makes your injectors work harder to open and on top of that you need a ---- load of check valves in front of the map sensor just so the ecu doesn't go into limp mode. Then there's always the overlooked aspect of ignition timing and boost retard that doesn't happen with an fmu (or afc for that matter). Most d-series ecu's have alot of timing advance added in on stock ecu code, something which boost doesn't like much at all on a d-series. You'll end up detonating and breaking a ringland or 2, curse and scream because you really don't have the money to rebuild the motor, and never want to build another turbo project again because you had one bad experience where you cheaped out on the single most important thing when adding boost.
It may seem like a bit of money right now, but trust me...it's well worth it in the long run to avoid all the aggravation and heartache. :P
