my friend recently left to iraq, and sold me his pieced together in process turbo kit for cheap. i've always been an NA B guy, but have a hatch w/ a d16y7. i'm not so turbo literate, so heres a pic. i know that the clamps, downpipe, and ecu are still needed, but based on this pic what else should be done? and he said i should get the wastegate welded.. wtf is that? flame me if you must, but i was never big on turbo, and he directed me to this site. THanks!



oh, and i searched, but couldn't find much visual stuff, so i'd appreciate if you guys could help.

hah nice diagram.
i cant see if theres a wastegate in that pic/on the turbo. thats a semi important part you should look into.


your friend may have been telling you to weld the wastegate flap shut, but then you would need an external one, the flap is on the exhaust side of the turbo, it should have a wastegate actuator attached to it

 

Go to the FI section and read the FAQ section til your eyes bleed. You will be much further ahead after that.

 

only thing thats missing is a **** in your butt, a fmu, and a rope so you can hang yourself.
