I found an AWESOME FREE stainless bar for building brackets....

They are called knives!

Just get some stainless knives for free from the kitchen and weld them up!

Or go to Goodwill and get some for $0.25 each.....

I welded up a stainless butter knive to a stainless tube. Damn strong weld...

 

stay away from ***** stainless.

I've had steak knives made from it just snap off at the tang.

 

I love how he says "just get them from the drawer for free" and doesn't take into consideration that his mom probably paid a lot of money for them. I know my mother doesn't buy cheap ----. Then again, I don't live with my mother and don't own shitty knives either. Oh well, whatever.

I still wouldn't trust it with shitty stainless and I wouldn't use good stainless. Seems pointless on both ends but...

 

I just go down 2 local machining shops & ask for scrap LoL!
They're always training newbie welders, or they're having to waste metal practicing on "new" projects. I got a nice pile of 1/2" mild steel plate friday from a place because somebody was trying to learn how to stick weld. Cut that crap up with the plasma cutter & it's all good.

 

Some highschools toss ---- out too. There's metal out there, just gotta be resourceful.
