turbo install complete, oil pressure gauge issues!!!
Hey everyone,
finally had some time to get my turbo install complete and everything is working great and its at 5psi
now of course you guys and gals expect pictures but i am not at my shop right now to take some...
and as always you always have little kinks to work out....the trouble that i am having is with the oil pressure gauge
the gauge was reading about 60 psi the whole time that i had the motor idling now after i took the car for its first
drive the gauge reads around 0 psi until i hit the gas where it goes up to around 25-30 psi, now i am really worried
that something is up with the oil pressure....i also noticed after i took it for the drive it started to overheat...
so if anyone has any ideas of what i can look at or how i can diagnose this that would be great
and ill get some pictures up on here on monday

it is an 88 CRX Si with a B16A in it...i put the oil pressure in while i was working on the car and it was working fine until i put the downpipe, 02 sensors on and took it for a drive...
its an Autometer carbon OP gauge....
any ideas?

either the engine was fucked before and you just didn't know it had 0 oil pressure at idles WHEN HOT untill you got the gauge or you just spun a bearing or you turbo is getting too much oil robbing some from the engine. unhook the turbo and see what you have.
ok...well i took it for little drives before without a downpipe and 02 sensor and everything was good...and i had it running hot and still constant 60psi OP
now what should i do for unhooking the turbo? just disconnect the oil line? and then see what the gauge reads obviously....and how would i know if i have a spun bearing
any other things that could be causing this?
i really appreciate your info on this...

you need to unhook the oil line and plug it, dont drive it like that and stop the compressor from turning if it spins at idle.
shitty oil pump could do it to.
it SHOULD knock at certian rpms if the bearing has spun but not always.

ok i just listened to a few clips of spun bearings and i dont hear any knocking at any time from the car....
ok so i guess ill have to un hook the turbo and check to see if i get pressure back and if i dont...what are we looking at here??
as well a couple buddies of mine said it might be an oil pump, there reasoning was b16's are known for weak oil pumps....not sure if this is true
what ill do is try and make a video of when its running and the noises and stuff it makes at idle and when i rev....
it seems like you know your stuff so i appreciate this....

alright well i borrowed my gf's camera (that i bought...lol) for tomorrow so i can get some video for you
and if an oil pump does fail is there a way to test it or is it just replace it....as well with any b-series oil pumps work on a b16?
