For anybody who needs a 220v outlet and hasn't had one put in yet, check this out:

That's been done forever by floor sanders and stuff like that. 220 is basically taking two 110 circuits. The only problem is you're limited to the ****** amperage of your 110v outlets, which is usually ---------- 15a.

Either that, or spend the ~10 dollars at a hardware store and make your own.

Uh, $130? I could make that in about 5 minutes with ---- out of my work truck for about $20.

1 double gang electrical box
2 3' pigtails (or 6ft for a better chance of plugging into 2 different phases)
1 220v plug of your choice

So it won't have the fancy light on it, but it cost $110 less. :1 I'm sure I could add a light for $1 or so.

The problem is that most rooms have one source.

Yeah, but they say to use an extension ciord. That should work out real well. 15a circuit through a 50ft extension cord powering a 220v device. :1

Probably has a high dollar capacitor and a safty shut off. Thats also proably the reason for the price.

without ground fault interrupters in the circuits.
That just negated half the circuits on any newer residance!

there are only two breaker, one for all the lights and one for all the plugs LOL
