Default b7 cam into b1 worth the trouble?

Well since I blew up the mini-me that was in my car I put the stock b1 back in. It is running mpfi off a stock p06 ecu. I have a spare b7 cam sitting here and was wondering how much better it is than the b1? The car runs good but power kinda falls off around 5k rpm. The setup in the car is:

D15B1 block 180k
D15b1 head
D16z6 Intake
D16z6 Exhaust
P06 ecu

Thanks Mista Bone, Ive read elsewhere that the lobes on the b1 cam are tiny compared to anyone else but id believe you over anything else Ive read. Ill just wait till spring and get a si cam or a regrind.

Just get a full B7 head and put it on if you want, or better yet, an A6 head. I'll give you one free if you need one

There's a pretty big difference between B1 and B2 cams, look at their power outputs; close to 20 crank hp. The difference between B2 and B7 is more in the MPFI manifold/conversion than cam.

B7 cam and DX ECU should make a noticeable improvement, but don't expect it to stop being a slug. You might be able to get out of the way of Metros.

what about the B1 choke plate and the WEAK tune on the ECU

I never got around to measure a B1 cam, but the B2 and B7 were very close.......

60 whp to 120 whp, never even have to pull the head!

Im not runing the dpfi, I have a Z6 intake on there. I am also runing of a p06 92 dx ecu so I thought the b7 cam would better match the maps on it. I have a chipping kit once my friend gets a chance to chip it for me.

B2 has a choke plate, never compared it to the B1, though. There might be a difference between them.
