So I was doing some experimenting wondering if I should buy a new crank pulley. I have a y-8 crank pulley and a z6 block and I know the timing marks are different. I asked mista bone if I could use a b7 pulley he said no because it will ruin my bearings. Well I took the crank timing belt gear off the b7 and put it on my z6 and got it alligned with the arrow on my z6 to get tdc. Ok well I took off that gear and put the y-7 gear on (didn't move the crank) and they are in the exact same position so I put my y-8 timing belt cover on. The z6 and put the y-8 crank pulley on and obviously the marks didn't line up but were pretty close so I was wondering if I could make a mark where the timing belt cover notch is on my crank pulley and make that a new tdc mark will this work?

 

Just use a timing light that has advance. That way you can use the TDC mark.


ALSO, bone has no proof that the B7 pulley destroyed his bearings. It was not a stock motor; therefore, whoever rebuilt it f'ed something up.

 

You can make a new mark if you want. Or put a wanted ad for a z6 pulley.
